Anglesey, 4th July 2010
Dan Polley started Sundays race from pole after the wet qualifying, while
Jimmy Furlong, Robbie Allen, Brian Kelly, Damien Murphy, and Dave O'Brien
joined him at the front of the field. Polley led away but Furlong had a poor
start he was passed by Allen however there were no opening lap casualties.
Mick Sammon spun at the start of lap two leading to both Aidan Byrne, and
Gavin Barr going off in avoidance. Barr lost his nosecone and top bodywork in
the incident. Murphy also lost places early on.
Ray Moore started well back but made steady progress through he to order. He
was up to third place after a few laps. The field was quick to splinter and
gaps appeared between the racers. Polley had a good lead from the chasing
Allen and Moore Kelly and Furlong were further back although Furlong retired
mid-race with engine problems. Robert Casey had also started well down and as
the race neared its end he was up to 5th place. The track had started to
become very slippery with oil and the spray from the sea by now.
Casey eased off slightly thinking his position was safe. This allowed Lloyd
Murphy to catch him. Murphy is an expert on a slippey surface and easily
caught Casey. He passed him at Rocket but the pair then came together at the
next right-hander, by the time they were untangled both had lost several
places.
Polley held on for the win that saw him have a near perfect weekend involving
two poles, wins, and fastest laps along with a lap record. Allen had a season
best 2nd place ahead of Moore who stayed ahead in the title race by the
narrowest of margins from Polley as a result.
